Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED), or impotence, is defined as an inability to achieve or maintain an erection that is sufficient for sexual intercourse. Since ED medications have become increasingly readily available via online platforms without seeing a physician, the focus has shifted away from trying to detect any possible underlying health risks that may be contributing to the development of ED. While many cases of ED are indeed often benign in origin, there are times when ED can be a sign of a broader issue such as cardiovascular disease or other health conditions. At Urology of Hudson Valley, we value the patient as a whole and will make the effort to evaluate, diagnose, and treat any underlying medical conditions that may be contributing to ED. While medications may help, there are several other treatment options based on the underlying cause of ED. This includes hormonal (testosterone) replacement, penile injections, urethral suppositories, and penile implant surgery. With state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, we can determine if there are any vascular conditions in the penile arteries and veins that may be contributing to ED. When you come to Urology of Hudson Valley, you can feel assured that you will receive the appropriate evaluation and management that meets your needs.
