Hematuria (Blood in Urine)
There are two general types of hematuria, or blood in the urine. Microscopic hematuria is a condition where, although the urine appears normal in color, there are blood cells escaping from the bloodstream into the urine unseen to the naked eye. These blood cells are only visible under a microscope, which is detected on a routine urinalysis. The other type is known as gross hematuria, where the urine is visibly red or blood-tinged. There can be many causes of both microscopic and gross hematuria. At Urology of Hudson Valley, we aim to provide prompt diagnostic services to determine the exact underlying cause of hematuria and offer the appropriate treatment thereafter.
